Officers from Balfron Police Office attended in the vicinity of Strathblane Primary School today (Tuesday 11/11/2025) in response to reports of inconsiderate and illegal parking, speeding, and the use of disabled bays by motorists who are not entitled to do so. A near miss was brought to our attention that a young school child was almost truck by a vehicle as a result of the inconsiderate parking around the school making it unsafe for them to cross the road. A further report was brought to our attention that a parent/carer of a school pupil was abusive towards a resident whose driveway they had blocked and sought to park in. This will not be tolerated.
All motorists that drive to/from/around the school are reminded that those roads have a 20mph limit. Motorists are reminded not to park their vehicle in front of dropped kerbs (whether this is to a residential, commercial, or other property, or they may face a fine and their vehicle being uplifted resulting in significant cost to the owner for recovery. Motorists are reminded that it is not acceptable to use disabled parking bays to “just nip in” to the school, library, or elsewhere, unless they have a valid disabled badge that is registered to them or someone they are transporting/picking up/dropping off. Misuse can lead to fines and removal of the badge. Police will be actively monitoring and reporting any persons observed misusing disabled badges. It is not fair to those entitled to them.
The public can expect Police to actively patrol Strathblane Primary School, the wider town, and other areas in the Forth and Endrick ward and robustly deal with offending.
Thank you to all motorists and members of the public who use our road network safely.
If you have information in relation to motorists that continue to drive, park or behave in such a manner, please let us know and we will take action as appropriate.
